Proposal, Guidelines and rules
We invite submissions of empirical and theoretical papers in all areas of environmental and resource economics to be presented onsite.
Full papers are to be submitted through the ConfTool platform. If you do not have a ConfTool account, please create one by selecting “No, I would like to register now.” Once you have logged into your account, use the option “Your Submissions” in order to submit your paper(s).
Please submit anonymous files, in PDF format. The WCERE2026 conference follows a double-blind review process. Please do not include the name(s) or affiliation(s) of any author(s) on the title page of your paper.
The deadline for paper submissions is 16 January 2026 (by 23:59 of any time zone).
Notification of the outcome of the review process is scheduled for 12 March 2026.
The number of submissions per person is unlimited, but the maximum number of presentations per person will be limited to one (including both parallel sessions and thematic sessions). All parallel sessions will be held onsite. All papers must be presented by an author who will be present in person at the Conference. It is not possible to present papers remotely.
Authors must be registered for the conference by 15 April 2026 in order for their papers to be included in the programme.

Call for Science-Policy-Business Sessions

SCIENCE-POLICY-BUSINESS SESSIONS aim to showcase how the use of environmental and resource economics can contribute to support public policy-making by providing a forum of discussion between policy-makers, the business sector and academia. Sessions are expected to be of interest to a broad audience of research economists. They will typically be formatted as three to four short presentations followed by panel/roundtable discussions. Papers are not required. The Programme Committee will select a limited number of proposed Science-Policy-Business Sessions based on relevance and originality. The Science-Policy-Business Sessions will be held during parallel sessions in hybrid format and will have a duration of one hour and half each.
Guidelines for submissions
To propose a Science-Policy-Business Session, please go to our ConfTool platform and use the option “Science-Policy-Business Session proposal”.
If you do not have a ConfTool account, please create one by selecting, “No, I would like to register now.” Once you have logged into your account, use the option “Your Submissions” in order to submit your proposal.
In the submission form, please input the name(s) of your session organiser(s), as well as the panelists of your session. You will have the opportunity to change/update the panelists of your session until the submission deadline (16 January 2026).
In the PDF of your proposal, please include the following information:
- Proposed title of the Science-Policy-Business Session
- Name(s) of the Science-Policy-Business Session’s organiser(s)
- A short description of the theme and its relevance to environmental or natural resource economists
- For each panelist a one-paragraph bio and a brief description of their expertise
- Each panelist in the Science-Policy-Business Session contributes with a short statement to the proposal about their contribution to the session.
Rules for Science-Policy-Business Sessions
- Science-Policy-Business Session organiser(s) must commit to attend WCERE2026 and chair their session.
- Science-Policy-Business Session organiser(s) are responsible for ensuring that the session contributors are aware of and follow the rules below.
- There are no earmarked financial resources to support Science-Policy-Business Sessions. However, panelists contributing to a Science-Policy-Business Session whose primary affiliation is with a Public Policy Institution (National or International) qualify for free access to WCERE2026 on the day of their session. No further access or discounts on registration fees can be provided. All panelists of Science-Policy-Business Sessions are to be registered by 15 April 2026.
- Sessions will be streamed and recorded and may be made public after the event through the Associations’ communication channels. It will be the responsibility of the Session organiser(s) to collect explicit consent from session panelists to this effect, following the instructions they will receive from WCERE2026 Secretariat in due course.
- The deadline for the submission of proposals is January 16, 2026.
- Notification of the decision by the Programme Committee is scheduled for February 16, 2026.

THEMATIC SESSIONS aim to highlight current research on a subject in environmental and resource economics. Thematic sessions will consist of four to five papers connected by a unifying theme. The individual contributions are expected to be of very high quality, both with respect to the scientific content of the paper and the presentation. The Programme Committee will select a limited number of proposed Thematic Sessions based on scientific quality and originality. The proposed papers for these sessions will undergo the normal refereeing process. The thematic sessions will run in parallel in much the same way as regular Parallel Sessions. Thematic sessions will be held in person.

If you do not have a ConfTool account, please create one by selecting, “No, I would like to register now.” Once you have logged into your account, use the option “Your Submissions” in order to submit your proposal.
In the submission form, please input the name(s) of your session organiser(s), as well as the paper presenters.
In the PDF of your proposal, please include the following information:

- Name(s) of the Thematic Session’s organiser(s);
- Proposed title of the Thematic Session;
- A short description of the theme and an explanation how the papers are connected and how they jointly relate to the theme;
- Title, author names, and a 100-word abstract for EACH of the papers included in the session (make sure that paper titles and authors are consistent with the website submissions).
- Submit all papers to be included via the conference website (Thematic Session Paper Submission). The papers will go through the regular review process.
Rules for Thematic Sessions
- Thematic Session organiser(s) must commit to attending WCERE2026 and to chairing the specific Thematic Session.
- Thematic Session organiser(s) are also fully responsible for ensuring that the session contributors are aware of and follow the rules below.
- Multiple paper presentations are not allowed. Hence, if a paper is accepted for presentation in a thematic session, its presenter will be excluded from any other session.
- There are no earmarked financial resources to support Thematic Sessions. All nominated presenters in a Thematic Session have to pay the WCERE2026 registration fees.
- All nominated presenters of Thematic Sessions are to be registered by 15 April 2026.
- Papers that are accepted, but are part of a Thematic Session that is not approved, will be included for presentation in a Parallel Session.
- Sessions will be recorded and may be made public after the event through the Associations’ communication channels. It will be the responsibility of the session organiser to collect explicit consents from session presenters to this effect, following the instructions he/she will receive from WCERE2026 Secretariat in due course.
- The deadline for the submission of proposals for Thematic Sessions AND paper submissions via conference website is January 16, 2026.
- Notification of the decision by the Programme Committee is scheduled for March 12, 2026.
